Smooth delivery, good bite on the secondary pitches, fastball up to 97. What he did in the KBO last year looked like Gerrit Cole in Houston. I like what I’m seeing.

Right-hander Cody Ponce and the Toronto Blue Jays are finalizing a three-year, $30 million contract, pending physical, sources tell ESPN. The AL champs get the KBO MVP, who went 17-1 with a 1.89 ERA and struck out 252 in 180.2 innings. First on the agreement was @Ken_Rosenthal .

That’s Jose Berrios from April 1st to July 1st last season. Half a season of pitching like a top of the rotation arm. Let’s all relax with the recency bias before we trade away a quality starting pitcher for a bucket of balls. A rough stretch does not mean he’s “cooked” at 31.

Dylan Cease has five consecutive 200+ strikeout seasons. He finished 4th in NL Cy Young voting in 2024 after being the AL runner-up in 2022. A pure stuff guy with legitimate ace upside entering his age 30 season. Massive rotation upgrade for the Jays. Wow.
