Watch a soviet YT channel like "Stop a Douchebag" where it shows everyday people in Russia dealing with the authorities. The people in Canada are far more compliant even though the authorities are equally as tyrannical.

You completely misunderstood it, older people CAN REMEMBER those days and could have had such thoughts unlike the younger ones who have no idea what "iron curtain" meant. I grew up in Czechoslovakia and speak from experience, BTW. Nice day! 🙂

Important difference in the soviet era was people often faced very serious consequences if they didn’t play along.
