Early days, but seems male playwrights/directors/producers pitch a LOT more. Women: pitch us shows please. Door is open. We want your work.

@CMPrendergast_ We're usually after production proposals not unsolicited manuscripts. We work with co-pros. Also, FYI no man has ever asked that question.

@JSTheatre Totally right to ask this, but women writers, having been ignored/objectified/vilified for centuries, often find 'pitching' a tough ask.1/2

@stellduffy Agreed. Well, in our own small way, we're saying it now. Come in. Send the email. We have no time and no money but let's see what happens.

@JSTheatre Are you asking for scripts for your reading pile or proposals for co-productions? Also, what's your email address? Asking for a friend.

@Hywel_Morgan Hi! Email on Twitter header. We massively prefer co-production proposals but sometimes just sending the email is the way forward...

@VictoriaJSadler @stellduffy Thanks Victoria. Helpful and makes sense. We are TINY and penniless and we cannot go to the writers/producers. We wish we could.

@VictoriaJSadler @stellduffy This has become a playwright debate - originally aimed at producers and directors too. And we did name agents as they're critical to this.

@VictoriaJSadler @stellduffy No intention to shame anyone, obviously. Best we can do within avail time and money is to say staging female stories is a priority for us.

@JSTheatre What Stella & others said. Invite me in. I know about opening space for, and making invitations to, and being, a woman.

@toksvig You're invited. Come and see our work this autumn. It's over 50% female on and off stage. If you like what we do, please get in touch!

@JSTheatre And if women are holding back perhaps this feeds, partly, into Last weeks discussion abt lack of women's plays on main stages??

@suzettecoon Absolutely agreed. It's agents and producers as well - maybe more importantly as we're normally doing plays by people who have rep.

@JSTheatre delighted! What to who and where do we send? I’ll pop on the London women’s writers page.

@SerenaHaywood Don't get up TOO many hopes. We remain an unfunded theatre and we're ideally after production proposals. Email on Twitter profile for qs.

@JSTheatre 2/2 it's possible that your ask needs to be different to change the culture of who pitches what.

@JSTheatre We run a small scale new writing theatre in Brighton ( @cast_ironacts ): we know many of our writers. Women: reluctant to send in (1/2)
