Big new feature-set rolling out to hoop-explorer: individual play-style analysis. First up, from the _team_ play-style analysis, you can now view _player_ contributions for the selected play types for selected players:

PSA Two more hoop-explorer presets before I go on holiday :) split by month, and split by "SoS band" (these are the first splits with >2 categories). Poor Michigan went ice cold from 3 at the end there, but the "style" view suggests some opponent adjustments?

Very cool use of the hoop-explorer exported data! @JonFendler's new ideas for cbb analysis have been making the . off-season a bit more bearable :).
Used GPT to sift through a 10000+ cell sheet of play type data from HoopExplorer to identify the most and least stylistically-homogeneous offensive and defensive conferences in 2024-25. Patriot was the most similar in O AND D. Offense: similar on left; dissimilar on right:

Fun new hoop-explorer preset suggested by @_DylanGrafius - view stats split by wins / losses. I was expecting Texas A+M losses to be triggered by poor off rebounding, but actually poor rim finishing/poor perimeter def/luck were the big factors

Small QoL improvement for hoop-explorer: the default team/player analysis config is now streamlined into preset options. To get the "old school" advanced view just hit the button far right. If there are presets you would find useful just let me know and I'll (try to) add them

Mini improvement, hoop-explorer now shows a few more handy defensive stats in the "Extra" view of Team Stats Explorer and Analysis pages (with usual support for export/filtering/sorting)

"Play type breakdowns" are now available on the hoop-explorer player leaderboard! Still a bit of work to do (eg adding to export and advanced filter) but this seems like a good start!

(From the team analysis page, click the Style button and then either start clicking on the bar chart or choose "Show Player Details"; or from the Stats Explorer ( click Style and then click on the team name to open a new page with the Style button enabled).

New hoop-explorer export feature - you can now download stats for all lineups > 40 season possessions from 2018+ enriched with player info (inc height), ~1500 per season, in case anyone was itching to do some analytics but was missing the data :)

I've improved the on/off comparison view for Hoop-Explorer shot charts: you can now view the difference between splits on the same chart or side-by-side. Pictured is how Michigan's O improved with Donaldson because they got to the rim more often (vs FG% improvements)
