Interested in seaweeds, microalgae, protists, bacteria and those interactions. Love culturing and the observations. Focusing on algae in islands too.

I realised I haven't tweeted about seaweeds for a while. Aeration culture of sporophyte of Cladosiphon okamuranus. This is the starting point of my seaweed research and the latest photo.

Happy #phycologyFriday! Finally, I got nice images of neutral #zoospore from the plurilocular #zoosporangium of Cladosiphon. #Cladosiphon_okamuranus #algae #seaweed #Mozuk #plurilocular_zoosporangium #neutral_zoospore #Phaeophyceae

Movie of one radiolarian, probably Dictyocoryne. We can see the large, thick axoflagellum. The symbiont seems to be haptophyte according to the figures of the following reference. https://t.co/tgDGV4th8z

Just returned safely from a month-long research voyage. Ocean research is still great and there is always something new to discover! I got very interesting organisms, very fortunately.

In fact, there have been three dams built recently. There is Batrchospermum downstream of the 2 years old dam, and filamentous green algae in the 1 year old dam and still nothing in this year's dam. No, there must be diatoms. Would be good monitoring place. #PhycologyFriday

A small sand control dam was built two years ago on a small stream passing near my villa. What a surprise, a colony of Batrchospermum has now emerged!

Nostoc verrucosum living on stones and other materials in clean, cool streams and spring ponds. It is somehow similar in appearance to N. commune, but is more fragile and differs greatly in habitat and tolerance to desiccation. #shimanumu_image #PhycologyFriday #Nostoc
