Grade 2 used graphic organizers to expand their writing about their elves! Ms. Charlene met with small groups for targeted instruction—small-group time gives students focused support and builds confidence in their writing.

Grade 8s tried a new Phys Ed game today—Crazy Football! Set it up, kick it, and hope the other team doesn’t catch it. Check out those huge inflatable footballs! Mr. Blackwood spotted this at a PD session and ordered the gear so students could try it. They had a blast!

We’re excited to share that IECA’s Innovative Schools Grant is being presented today at the Provincial SAC meeting! Our project focused on using indoor composters to help reduce waste, support our new lunch program, & create hands-on learning opportunities for students.

Our Gr 6 students put their editing skills to the test today! After reading a (purposely) poorly written essay about Ms. Ashley’s dog, Blue, meeting some classmates, students worked together to identify errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, & overall depth of writing.

Today, students participated in presentations from the SRCE Equity Team. From learning about racism, human rights, and treaty education to taking part in interactive drumming, students experienced a day filled with meaningful learning and reflection. A big thank-you to the team!

Construction Technology 12 is hard at work creating their model barns! Today, Mr. Fraser walked the class through the steps of constructing the trusses for their roofs. Students are building skills, gaining confidence, and bringing their projects to life one piece at a time

Jeff and Archie stopped by our CD 10 class to talk with our students about the wide range of careers available in our local hospital. Their visit sparked great questions and curiosity, and we’re grateful for the insight they shared about the many pathways in healthcare.

Grade 5s had a special visit today with Baby Josephine and Amber. Our Roots of Empathy baby continues to be a great teacher. She shared plenty of smiles and rolled over for us, demonstrating her developing skills.

Today our Grade 7 students got hands-on with an exciting activity exploring how food chains connect to form food webs in an ecosystem! Students worked together to build their own food webs using plants, herbivores, carnivores, and top predators.

Our Grade 2 students took their math class to the gym today! Instead of sitting at their desks, they raced around solving addition facts and practicing their basic math skills—all while staying active and having fun. Who says math can’t get your heart pumping?

Grade Primary had a special guest today — Mr. MacEachern! He shared wonderful stories and made meaningful family connections to our local veterans. Students asked all kinds of great questions and learned so much.

Our students shone today with a heartfelt song, a moving reading of In Flanders Fields, and thoughtful thank-you cards for our veterans. A special thank you to Roy MacEachen for his inspiring words and reminder of the importance of remembrance.

The Grade 4 classroom was a popular spot today! Students proudly presented their habitat projects to our elementary classes, sharing what they learned about different environments, the animals that live there, the climate, and some fun facts. The younger students were captivated.

In Ms. Ashley’s class, community circles are a special time for students to come together, share their voices, and connect with one another. Today, she used circle time to introduce their new novel, The Breadwinner.

Over the past week, our students have been learning about the importance of Remembrance Day through stories, discussions, and creative activities. They’ve explored what it means to remember and show gratitude to those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom.

Grade 7 students have been showing off their creativity while learning all about adding & subtracting integers! To demonstrate their understanding, they’ve been designing lapbooks — a fun and hands-on way to represent their knowledge through foldables, examples, and visuals

Last Thursday, our primary students taste-tested and voted on their favourite Nova Scotia apples! They also learned about the stages of apple tree growth and how apples make their way from the orchard to the grocery store.

Grade 2 worked on a Building Thinking Classrooms challenge to design a jack-o’-lantern with a total cost of $20! Each pumpkin, eye, nose, mouth, and accessory had a different price, so groups had to plan, problem-solve, & collaborate to create their perfect $20 jack-o’-lantern.

Our Gr 1 students had a wonderful time during Show & Tell this morning! It’s always so special to see them light up as they share something meaningful with their classmates. Activities like this help students build confidence, & practice speaking & listening skills.
