I know we’re a long way from this approaching the Overton window, but I don’t care; it has to be faced. We need to link the decisions about how our taxes are spent to those who pay, not those who receive. Apart from anything else, universal suffrage is an unacceptable moral
“a democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. it can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. from that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the

A significant part of our future, is as an open air museum for the rest of the world. People think this is a bad thing, I think they're wrong. We, Europe, are how the world has got where it is. A lot of it out there, beyond the narrative, is shiny and amazing and rapidly leaving
The UK economy is wankered (technical term) and Keynesian economics like 50% tax will make it worse! ▪️Aging population + shrinking workforce. ▪️Massive taxation (top rate 50% ▪️Heavy climate & energy regulation ▪️raising business costs. ▪️AI and net-zero industries mostly

This is one reason why the BBC should be torn limb from limb. This was evident from early 21. If it had been reported as it should, many many lives would've been saved.
RFK Jr: "It's a trick". Robert F Kennedy Jr: "The vaccine is ineffective for the first 6 weeks after the first shot [and] during that period the covid infection rate goes up, and the death rate goes up, [and] the official data, do not count you as vaccinated until 2 weeks after

British journalist Peter Hitchens has been covering Russia for 47 years. He’s a critic of Vladimir Putin so nobody can say he’s "echoing Putin’s talking points.” Hitchens writes: “You’ve been fed a steady diet of propaganda rubbish about Ukraine and the invented Russian menace.”

I've just remembered GK Chesterton's Manalive. I loved that book when I was young; read it many times. "...rolls the golden evening air down the golden grass..." His story of an exuberant young man and his wife attempting to wake people from dull, dead lives by apparently

Passing thought. I know the elections are a long way off, but enough knife-wielding nutters on the streets would make a pretty fair reason to either: 1. Cancel the election. 2. Run it as some postal/digital version that could give a pre-determined result.

@HumphrisRod Yes, libertarianism is left. Libertarians like to pretend they are rightwing for the simple reason that (a) the [statist] left controls much of the political narrative and (b) conservative rhetoric makes it seem like they get economics. Both are bad reasons.

Years ago, before the war started, or at least before I was aware of it, I used to occasionally see a union jack on a flag pole outside someone's house. It was a sign of a certain kind of conservative. If anything, it was slightly embarrassing. Now, I go somewhere for some

The world is complicated and often I don't understand it. Sometimes, I understand bits of it. One of the bits I understood from pretty near the beginning, was that if the west and Russia had a proper war, it would be existential for both parties. It has been. Russia has won and

I have some fairly deep reservations about some of the things the state of Israel seems to have been up to, but the thought that Jews should be in danger on the streets of Britain is a black and damming shame on us. Fascism is back, and this time on our streets. It has a new
I stand with Britain's Jews because: They have never committed atrocities on our streets. Never tried to force Kosher food. Never forced teachers into hiding for showing cartoons. Never mass raped girls on an Industrial scale. Never held hate marches in our streets. Never

Whenever I learn to do a new thing, I always eventually end up with a set of operating principles; a few things which are always true in all circumstances, and which become the foundation of decision making. I’ve been hunting for those which apply to building a new way to live

My opinion on Israel/Palestine is: neither. Our concern is our land; they can go sort themselves out. And while they’re here, the representatives of both should be peaceful and obey our laws.

In the world we used to live in, nation states had the monopoly of violence. They fought with each other and kept the peace within their own domains. A nation state is an essentially geographic and secular idea. Citizenship entailed living there and abiding by the rules. Within

I’ve known for a long time that it’s not enough to oppose all this shit; it is necessary to have a positive direction to go towards. I don’t fave any single word for it, or all-encompassing framing, but I am sure it must include: 1. Vastly less government, which also means, a

We probably agree that information is one of the important fronts in this war. Given how many people went on Saturday, and how many more are behind them, an awful lot of people just got a direct experience of just how much the media lie. The British media is the enemy of the

This is to the Left. I'm from the Left. Third generation. The point of the Left is to support and represent the working man against the bastards who usually run the world. That was us on the streets of London yesterday. The people who do the work around here. We're not happy
