@Jericho17205019 @Schaffrillas Eh it’s in keeping with Herbert’s intent, he was annoyed so many people didn’t get that from just Dune. As for expanding Channi I’m okay, just don’t like how she didn’t chat about Paul’s proposal to Irulan and missing the iconic Jessica line at the denouement.

If you come out of Dune 2 thinking it's a white savior narrative then I think narrative fiction as a concept might not be for you

Just read a really baffling article calling out the white savior narrative of DUNE 2. With respect….what? I get the reactions to PART 1, but how much clearer could Denis have been in PART 2?

@Schaffrillas They also completely re-wrote Channi to help accomplish this

@HitchikersPie @Schaffrillas Which is kinda dumb seeing Dune messiah shows why book one is not a white savior story. I guess they felt the adaption needed to make that clear before they got to book 2

@HitchikersPie @Schaffrillas I get where you're coming from, but I also loath how we can't get adaptions with the warts left in, so to speak. Also, I think it would be funny to see the reaction to Messiah had Deni gone the way the book went. But I don't think its poorly made. I for one hope we get Messiah.

@Jericho17205019 @Schaffrillas That’s fair, assume you’re alluding to less sexist Sokka wrt warts. My feel is if Frank wrote a screenplay he’d have liked/used the more explicit manipulation. Messiah seems a guarantee too.

@HitchikersPie @Jericho17205019 @Schaffrillas Considering the shrunken time scale with the movies, it’s possible they might reveal that Chani is already pregnant
