@HenshinRX To be fair starting someone on Thelonious Monk to get em into jazz is kinda like starting a 21 year old on smoky scotch. His playing is deliberate but intentionally dissonant and harsher.

@HenshinRX On the other hand, I'd almost guarantee that Watanabe and Kanno are big Monk fans. Better than even odds there's an interview somewhere explicitly confirming this.
