I used to play the first Max Payne when I was a teenager and go through the prologue without much thought. After having my own child, replaying that part almost made me cry. It hits so incredibly harder when you know firsthand how joyful and innocent and defenseless a baby is.

Protestants complained about indulgences and then invented gigasimony that was 10,000x worse. Simony at levels Johann Tetzel could only dream of. If you cant afford your exorbitant pew rent you cant sit down or come in this church!
Box pews were fashionable in colonial churches in the 18th century. People who worshiped at Old North had to buy their seating, so box pews were considered property. Owning a box pew was very expensive. Some cost the equivalent of a day laborerโs annual salary!
