Yes... but, the guys racing, will come in small groups or single file. It's not a sprint finish at the bottom of 40 guys. There are going to be very small groups racing for the win or GC.

I saw that in the video afterwards. But you can roll over them without feeling it. I had rain in the morning and it's the water in those cracks that make it stand out.

Times were taken at the top for L’Étape at the weekend and I could see why. For amateurs, where the road narrows and people taking greater risks with potentially less experienced cyclists it could’ve been dangerous, but I saw no surface or reason why the pros shouldn’t do it

Riders through the years mainly on Steel bikes then alloy/Carbon managed this downhill on RIM brakes in all weathers and if you look back at old footage the surfaces were just as good as todays. 🤫
