It’s not every day you get a picture with @SLOTUS and @CherylHines but sometimes you get lucky! The energy in this room was so feminine and hopeful. Grateful to have been a part of it.
A groundbreaking week at HHS championing a return to Gold-Standard Science for women’s health. It was an honor to welcome @SLOTUS Usha Vance and passionate advocates for a historic announcement about hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for menopause.

People can and do accept medical interventions each and every day with informed consent that helps them weigh risks, benefits, and alternatives. You are not being fair in stating that all interventions must be risk free because that’s not real life. @RetsefL @RWMaloneMD
We all want “gold standard evidence” and can reasonably move toward gathering better data. But if your goal is to exclude by RCT any chance of every harm over the entire lifespan, you’ll never accept any medical intervention. Which is just fine for our current leaders.

Science triumphs over insanity.
🚨🚨BREAKING: Hep-B vaccine no longer recommended for newborn babies! ACIP just voted YES to change the recommendation on the Hep-B vaccine. It is NO LONGER recommended just after birth. The recommendation is now: “For infants born to HBsAg-negative women: ACIP recommends

It’s all fun and games until it isn’t. Do you feel superior to parents whose children have suffered? You can’t take the moral high ground over other parents who did exactly as you do and lost their child because of it.
At my son’s pediatrician’s office there is a ZERO tolerance policy about not vaccinating. They will refuse to see your child if you’re neglecting them. And, that’s why they have my trust.

@AzadehKhatibiMD I’ve had a very similar journey and it has changed my entire life for good. I now feel confident standing up and saying scary things that I know will be attacked. What better cause is there than to secure the future of discourse, science, and the health of children?

Obsessing over one of the biggest health policy screw ups in history is EXACTLY what I want my agency leaders doing. Every. Single. Day. I want them obsessed with the mistakes of the past so they don’t repeat them. Who wouldn’t want that? Bravo @DrJBhattacharya.

@ChildrensHD @TracyBethHoeg Of course @TracyBethHoeg is correct. This is medical ethics 101. Everything in medicine and life is risk versus benefit. It’s not free lunch versus the end of the world.

if they had a defensible position and actually thought children would be harmed they would have treated it like the opportunity of a lifetime. The fact that they didn’t show up, tells you everything you need to know about their position.
Hotez and Offit had the best chance in their careers to make the case to the nation and world on how their warehouses of shots are safe and effective. For whatever reason, both declined to do so. They were AWOL at ACIP.

The wording also clearly states born to a hepatitis b negative mom. -not unknown -not untested -not positive The religiously-fervent vaccine fanatics are claiming otherwise. @RWMaloneMD is right. Words matter.
This is the wording that the ACIP voted on. “For infants born to HBsAg-negative women: ACIP recommends individual-based decision-making, in consultation with a health care provider, for parents deciding when or if to give the HBV vaccine, including the birth dose. For those

Italy does not vaccine with hep b until three months. They have zero cases of hep b in 0-14 year olds. They also have a much higher life expectancy than we do. They are 7th highest in the world and we are 48th. It’s time for change.

@DrPlantel This is a bad and narrow minded take. Public health policy and science are not the same. Science should guide decisions, but policy involves values, tradeoffs, economics, and accountability. I’m not defending anti-science behavior, but it’s wrong to imply only those with

This is just common sense: “Do you give a vaccine to an infant, when you do not know for sure that the benefits will outweigh the harms? And of course, the answer is no.“ @TracyBethHoeg

Here’s how: they discussed what we actually know, and what we don’t know. If that’s anti-VAX it’s because we have a reality problem not a messaging problem.
NEW: How the CDC became a powerful platform for the anti-vaccine movement it sought to fight. Me and @DavidOvalle305 @pw_cunningham @washingtonpost 1/4 https://t.co/Adpde0zSS6

If you really felt that kids were going to be harmed or die why wouldn’t you take the opportunity to stand up & make your case amongst your peers? A. You have no valid arguments B. You don’t actually care C. You’re too busy counting your 7 figure RotaTeq checks to travel to GA
Dr. Paul Offit & Peter Hotez refused to join today’s ACIP meeting to defend the current U.S. vaccine schedule I wonder why? 🤔

Why do we need the 1986 act if vaccines are so safe and effective? Why does a product need immunity if it doesn't cause harm? Why do products that have been on the market for decades, like the hepatitis B vaccine, still need immunity?

The media has portrayed the ACIP's Hep B vaccine vote today as the makings of a public health crisis. This is totally detached from reality! Some details you won't hear on NPR: - The pivot aligns the U.S. policy with the approach of 24 other high-income nations. ACIP has only

@sarahdespres @DrPaulOffit Except we’re not in high school anymore. If you care about whatever you say you care about then you would show up and represent your viewpoint. I suspect it has more to do with the 7 figure RotaTeq checks he’s cashing
