NATO has the chance to maintain credibility by delivering on promises made to accept new members, securing victory in Ukraine and deterring Russia from further attempts to move borders. My hope is that we grab this opportunity with both hands.
Including Ukraine under the umbrella of NATO collective defence is the only way to deter Russian aggression. Lithuania doesn't need pressure from Ukraine to understand this.
A very sad day for Georgia and the rest of Europe. The passing of this law effectively puts Georgia's accession to the EU on hold, with no benefit for anybody. Almost anybody.
Pleasure to welcome
@MihaiPopsoi
in Vilnius to discuss the upcoming start of EU accession negotiations. In this process Moldova has and will have Lithuania's full support. 🇱🇹🇲🇩
The best way to help Ukraine is to help Ukraine win, but instead we are shielding Russia's occupation. If we cannot get over our fear of success, we will only invite more failure.
❗️Lithuania is ready to send troops to Ukraine to train our military and to simplify logistics.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielus Landsbergis, answering the question of People's Deputy Honcharenko.
Lithuanians 💪
Another Russian hybrid operation is underway, this time attempting to spread fear, uncertainty and doubt about their intentions in the Baltic Sea. This is an obvious escalation against NATO and the EU, and must be met with an appropriately firm response.
As Chair of the Committee of Ministers of the
@coe
, I thank the
@VeniceComm
for strongly recommending repeal of the "foreign influence" law, and I express hope that Georgia's leaders will do so.
Among many other things, I told
@TF1
that Lithuania is ready to join a coalition led by, for example, France, which would carry out training on Ukrainian soil.
