13 Teams. 11 Submissions. 2 Global Nominees. ๐ Builders drove all the way from Takoradi and Accra just to build with us. So grateful for those who helped make this happen, Kumasi on the map, we did that.
Local lead here ๐๐พ๐ฌ๐ญ โA truly proud moment. These two teams truly deserved it, and I am ecstatic that the world agrees. โIt's official ๐โโ๏ธ, Kumasi has produced TWO Global Nominees for the 2025 NASA International Space Apps Challenge Global Awards. โA massive congratulations

The bar for African language TTS has just been raised ๐ฌ๐ญ Listen to the quality of these new Asante (male AND female) TTS voices. This is the natural, authentic sound being worked towards. Genuinely believe this sets a new benchmark. This is a huge opportunity for integration.

Are we there yet? At @GhanaNLP, we started developing translation tools for African languages in 2020 at https://t.co/oltoTkTbZH. Our languages do not have enough dictionary to scale largely in science, geography, maths, engineering, etc.
โ๏ธ if a language canโt be heard, itโs not included (it's quite underrepresented) ๐ hereโs a look at the speech synthesis models for Twi, Ewe, Dagbani, and Gurene โ featuring the female Twi voice thatโs been quite anticipated for a while now. these are raw outputs. a thread ๐งต
