If your contention is that, based on Square Enix' not reporting official sales numbers of Rebirth, and the financial statement write-down, that Rebirth must have sold south of the 3.5mn units of Remake....
.......then selling that game on Xbox, whose next gen addressable market…

Half of nothing is still nothing. Half of something is something. If going by the last official mainline release of FF on Xbox aka 1M sales, it would amount to around ~40M to 50M in revenue. For a company that seems to be not doing as good, seems like every bit would help.
@demon4gau
No. Because, as mentioned, that doesn't address the addl up-front cost and removing the up-front payment from PlayStation. Therefore, that's not a theoretical proof that the 40 - 50mn addl revenue would have been upside. Half of something isn't something when the input side of…

FF7R estimate cost was 200M, 3,5x70 gives you around 245… I don’t know m8 maybe those 1,5 or 2M extra would indeed make something for FF7 sales 🤷🏻♂️, it seems the kind of game that needs to make 5M at least

Add the up-front exclusivity payment from PlayStation to revenue (or subtract that from cost)
People are assuming that it sold less than 3.5mn units, so reduce that and adjust the projected sell-through on both platforms and total revenue captured based on the adjusted unit…

The game just needs to develop within its own scope/audience, I remember them talking about being as popular as the Witcher 30+ million players and stuff like that , So I think they're just chasing players that simply don't exist for the franchise 🤷 feels like a nostalgia…
@GameLogIQ
I wouldn’t say Xbox would help much but not putting it on PC at launch at this point is a head scratcher. I get that Sony pays a certain amount for exclusivity but at this point to exclude PC it just doesn’t seem worth it imo.
@GameLogIQ
At the end of the day no gamer should be interested in sales just playing the game and determining if they would buy the next if the publisher decides it’s been successful enough🤷♂️
