BREAKING: HUNDREDS were just arrested blockading @SenSchumer's street, including high profile public officials, rabbis, politicians, scholars, and descendants of holocaust survivors — ages 20 to 80. We demand an end to the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Never again is today.

Congratulations to all of my colleagues for the great work! Onto a new era of researcher and science advocacy.
🎉 A majority of NYU researchers have signed a Union Authorization Card to form our union 🎉 We’re excited to join thousands of researchers across the country who have organized for a voice over our working conditions, including most recently at Sinai and Columbia here in NYC!

I don't post often, but everyone who follows me should know how terrifying this is. This is the alternative to Trump in the Republican party. I can not safely travel anywhere with laws like this, for conferences or otherwise.

Hello here is my monthly Twitter binge quote tweeting about things that make me angry.

NYU Langone's student social media guidelines restrict students from discussing concerns about work environment on social media. I'm not a lawyer but this seems to contradict the National Labor Relations Act? This tweet will be staying up.

Spending this year studying MRI has ruined me. I'm listening through this moving, beautiful album about Alzheimer's dementia and all I can think about is signal to noise ratio 🤦

Great resources in the replies!
I am wrapping up my first year as a PhD student and can’t help but feel subpar. I don’t understand statistics to the extent I wish. SAS/any statistical software makes me nervous. I struggle comprehending journal articles on my own. Should I be concerned? @PhDVoice

I did well on the exam today in spite of the stress of this week 👌

I would like everyone in science to read the painful, poignant description of what, exactly, Sabatini did to women under his mentorship. It should make you sick to your stomach. I don't think I could still be in science if I'd faced any of this.

I didn't even bother attending the @nyugrossman zoom meeting today because everything done and said was totally predictable down to calling an attendee muted lecture a "discussion", I have a tough exam tomorrow, and frankly I do not have the emotional energy.

So @nyugrossman invited the community to a zoom for transparency. Then revoked the invite, saying only trainees and research faculty are invited. Now trainees can’t get into their zoom link and the email they’re told to contact bounces back.

First year PhD student at NYU Langone here. I rarely post on Twitter, but the Sabatini debacle at NYU is so horrifying that I had to log on just to speak out against it. Grad students are vulnerable. So many people publicly speaking out indicates something very, very wrong.

I am a graduate student at @nyulangone @nyugrossman. My views are mine and do not represent those of the institution. I am appalled and dumbstruck at the possibility that my school may hire David Sabatini. 🧵How can future trainees feel comfortable coming forward with (1/)

Sometimes I feel confident in my first weeks of my PhD program. Sometimes the graduate advisor recommends a class with multivariate calculus as a prerequisite 😅
