Yes we are most definitely essential to patient care. We are at the start of a potentially exciting time for the #PharmacyTechnician profession BUT it’s a drop in the ocean to what we could do if given the right opportunities.
In our @CommonsHealth evidence session on the future of pharmacy yesterday, I asked @NicStk about how could we raise awareness of the vital role of pharmacy technicians. Pharmacy technicians are essential to our healthcare system, but rarely get the recognition they deserve.

Absolutely Karen, I had a number of thoughts about this & particularly the point about paying a significant sum up front not being possible for those who would benefit most. A rethink needed to ensure patients can afford their prescribed medicines.
Interesting to hear from @william_pett here 👇 about low level knowledge about pre-payment certificates… surely this could be solved with IT solutions … how hard could it be to flag those who pay & include info in bag? @Pharmacistdaz

Unbelievable & so very disappointing that there is such a lack of understanding @TheGPhC & a lack of quality for signing off such publications #PharmacyTechnician @APTUK1
What hope do we have if @TheGPhC can't get it right? ⚠️ Dear #Pharmacy Regulator Please note that #PharmacyTechnician is a protected title in law How can we be assured on points of accuracy when "pharmacist technician" is used throughout official, public-facing documents? ⚠️
