In a study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, researchers have identified femmephobia — negative attitudes toward femininity in men — as a stronger predictor of anti-gay behavior among heterosexual men than other commonly cited factors.

Have you ever experienced pressure to be "less feminine" or "more masculine"? How did you respond? My new research finds that women overwhelmingly report suppressing their femininity in response to femmephobia. Read more here:

The Journal of Femininities has come into being! It's the first journal of femininities among a sizeable cluster of masculinities journals. This is an exciting moment for the field and I encourage folks to request library subscriptions from your institutions (see below) & submit!

New wonderful article from @Femme_inist just dropped. Please read! In relation to my own work this is backed up by people who attack men who enjoy BL or deny their existence altogether, while also devaluing male characters associated with femininity. https://t.co/uPY7pgfSLp

Este paper, como todos los que publica la investigadora Rhea Ashley Hoskin @Femme_inist, es muy importante porque hay que empezar a nombrar las violencias específicas. No todo es homofobia: lo femenino es la diana, la homofobia suele funcionar como munición

The strongest motive for anti-gay behavior among heterosexual men was "femmephobia", an aversion to the feminine in men. https://t.co/2povI649XR

I continue to believe that fashion as a subject is constantly disrespected because it has historically been coded as a feminine interest, and thus associated with vanity, unseriousness, etc. Other areas of aesthetics, such as art and architecture, are not disrespected in this way

I love this new article from @EmmaTremora on selfies and how “naturalness” is seen as virtuous but “fakeness” is derided. Emma I feel like this also really connects with my work on toxic femininity plus @Femme_inist’s work on femmephobia
