We wrote a book! And you can now pre-order IRISH BABY NAMES – What They Mean and How to Pronounce Them! The book launch will be at Hodges Figgis in June, and we’d love for you to join. DM Morgan Buckley, Gavin Drea, or me for a reminder. https://t.co/d1JYRL2BfV

⌚4 years ago I joined the European Parliament. 🚀10X Solar Growth. Since then, the annual solar PV production on Parliament's buildings has gone from 48,865 kWh to 473,284. Going from 2 buildings with solar when I joined, up to 8 now, with 6 in the pipeline.

Nice to have worked on pushing energy communicates in the EU Clean Energy Package and see this a few years later: https://t.co/CU66MYHp6C It's only getting started

Provisional ERA5 global temperature for 17th November from @CopernicusECMWF was 1.17°C above 1991-2020 - the warmest on record. Our best estimate is that this was the first day when global temperature was more than 2°C above 1850-1900 (or pre-industrial) levels, at 2.06°C.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED🚀 We have adopted the last pieces of legislation to deliver on our 2️⃣0️⃣3️⃣0️⃣ climate targets. Emissions will be reduced by at least 5️⃣5️⃣%, and 🇪🇺 will be climate neutral by 2050. We are making the green transition real ✅ #EUGreenDeal #FF55 @WBHoekstra

The first global temperature data is in for the full month of September. This month was, in my professional opinion as a climate scientist – absolutely gobsmackingly bananas. JRA-55 beat the prior monthly record by over 0.5C, and was around 1.8C warmer than preindutrial levels.

Its hard to overstate just how exceptionally high global temperatures are at the moment. They have blown past anything we've previously experienced by a huge margin. Over at The Climate Brink, we try and visualize this summer of extremes in seven charts. https://t.co/yApwMbyxgG

NEW RESEARCH: Study number 44 shows: Hydrogen should only play a limited & complimentary role to decarbonise heating. Whole-energy system optimisation model by @imperialcollege suggests 83-97% of UK heating from heat pumps is lowest cost pathway to zero emissions heating. 🧵

Perspective: Lithium we mine today and that we'll need to mine by 2050 compared to other major mined materials today like Iron, Aluminum, and Copper. Measured in kilotonnes. Great visual.

"To pursue efforts to limit global warming to 1.5°C" said almost 200 countries less than 8 years ago at the COP Paris agreement.
Latest observations of global temperature change shown as a 'climate spiral' using monthly averages from January 1850 to June 2023. Uses @metoffice HadCRUT5 dataset, representing change relative to the 1850-1900 'pre-industrial' era.

#DYK that 50% of all energy ⚡️ consumed in the EU is used for #heatingandcooling? More than 70% of it still comes from fossil fuels. How can #heatpumps help reduce 🇪🇺 fossil fuel imports? Watch the video and learn more 👉🏽 https://t.co/vUrdqB55Mc
