DROUGHT INDEX UPDATE KBDI for Fort Bend County is 679, indicating very dry conditions and a high wildfire risk. Rain is in the forecast, but it will take significant rainfall to reverse drought conditions. Burn ban remains in effect for all unincorporated areas of the county.

🚨 BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🚨 🔥 As of Oct 13, 2025, Fort Bend County Commissioners Court has approved an outdoor burn ban for all unincorporated areas. KBDI: 642 → Very dry = high wildfire risk. 🚫 No outdoor burning, campfires, trash burning, or open flames.

ADVISORY Fort Bend Hazmat is on scene with Beasley Fire for chlorine leak. Per City of Beasley “If you've seen the commotion in town, there was a leak at South 3rd and Ave H. It is currently being worked on. We are asking for residents to please shelter in place at this time”

Fort Bend County Hazmat is on location for a semi truck rollover on Smithers Lake Road at Rabbs Prairie Road. The semi is carrying hazardous materials so the roadway is completely shutdown for cleanup. Smithers Lake Road is closed in both directions.

Fort Bend County Hazmat Response is on scene with Richmond Fire on FM 762 exit and Hwy 59 eastbound entrance ramp with cement truck roll over. Currently both entrance and exit ramp are closed. Please use alternate route.

Fort Bend County Hazmat Response is enroute to Hwy 36 / Lake St in Orchard for an oil storage tank fire. Multiple fire departments are on scene. Fire is producing a large column of black smoke. Air quality will be monitored for public safety.

Fire Marshal Investigators responded to a structure fire with Richmond and Northeast FD. Fire believed to be caused by lightning. Multiple active fire calls around the county also believed to be related to the weather overnight. Please be cautious as you get out this morning.

Fort Bend County Hazmat Response Team is participating in an interoperability meeting with The Woodlands Fire Department and Conroe Fire Department Hazmat Response Teams. Partnerships with other regional response teams is important to continuity of operations.

Fort Bend County Hazmat continues to monitor the air quality in the neighborhood closest to the mulch fire at Frank’s Nursery on FM 359 in Richmond. As the fire continues to burn slowly the air quality remains within allowable limits which does not prompt any evacuation actions.

UPDATE: 3.31.24 Frank’s Nursery Mulch Fire – Richmond, Texas Fire continues to burn slowly. Due to the size of the mulch pile, it will likely take 2 to 3 days to burn down. FBC Hazmat will continue to monitor air quality. No current threat to public.

Fort Bend County Hazmat Response Team has been assisting Richmond Fire on the large mulch fire at Frank’s Nursery in Richmond. It is an ongoing situation with crews still on scene today.

Fort Bend County Hazmat was requested by Beasley Fire to respond to a reported gas leak off of Koym Road in Beasley. Be advised that Energy Transfer is bleeding a gas line in order to repair a damaged line in Sealy. No threat to public but estimated to take 4-6 hours.
