With little else I can do, I went out in my wellies and cleared the clogged drains through the village that were causing standing water. The last time this happened, the water found its way into houses, shops and the pub… but not today. Now to make coffee with the Kelly Kettle…

I discovered years ago that I'm very much a morning person. The giveaway was when I'd commute from home in Devon to the office in London, and be at my desk before 4am - 5 hours before anyone officially started.
