I’ll die on this hill: The Reds can afford to sign anyone they want, they just choose not to. They can cry poor all they want, it’s simply not true. Yes, other teams have more money (a lot more in some cases). That doesn’t make them the lowly street baggers ownership portrays.

The Los Angeles Dodgers aren’t what is wrong with baseball. It’s these sad greedy pieces of garbage owners that is what’s wrong with the sport. The popularity of baseball is growing rapidly and some of these teams will try to shed salary. Feel awful for fans of these teams.

I think this is is true, but not for the rationale provided. The lockout looms, Bob and other owners clearly think they can get a cap/floor system implemented and are probably going to avoid locking up money in any sort of >1 year deal.
This really isn't surprising. They were never going to randomly add a ton of payroll. It sucks to see, for sure. But it's not a surprise.

I think the Hunter Greene thing is largely fluff. But - BUT! You cannot be opposed to trading anyone, be ballsy. The Reds ability to draft pitching and their pipeline I think sort of allows them to be ballsy, thats kind of the point. Do I think its going to happen? Nah.

@drivelinekyle I discount the opinion of anyone who states that MLB pitchers threw (on average) just as hard 30 years ago as they did today. Funny thing is, they say everyone sells out for velocity now (which "ruins the game") while also believing no one throws any faster. Which is it?
