@DeathHandDallas
They treat race swaps as trophies to “make whitey mad” when the only group that this is actually hurting is black creators.
@EnjoyerFive
It's a slap to the memory of Dwayne McDuffie's face that Icon is not the character in the 'New' Superman movie
Seriously, read Icon, he is a great and complex character
@meatcheesebaby
I did. And in of all the dakotaverse characters i read so far,he still my favorite. He's the perfect balance,imho, of political themes that i think most writers nowadays don't know how to make anymore.
@EnjoyerFive
Honestly there's no excuse when it comes to DC or Marvel, Sony did it twice with Miles and both times made his name just as synonymous with Spider-Man as Peter Parker.
@ChaddLast
Exactly. All they need to do is try. They have brand names recognized by millions,all they gotta do is make an actual good characters and promote them, that's it.
@EnjoyerFive
Race swap and gender swap is lazy. If the only thing that makes the character unique is their skin color or gender then they come off as bland and usually not that impressive compare to the original.
@EnnuiKeaton
They come off as bland because that's what they are. They are created by shallow narcissistic people that only show empathy towards the only thing they care about: themselves.
@MadderRed1
“when it's done good, i don't even notice and just vibe”
That's what most people feel when they're just enjoying the good art they're consuming and not having to cope with “the characters in it are x so it's good!”.
