My book Ramping Up Rights aims to arm disabled people with our history and how we fought, so that we can still fight today. The gov and media want disabled people to feel isolated, because we are so strong when we come together - and that terrifies them.

One more time for those at the back: NO-ONE who is experiencing mild anxiety is getting PIP. No one gets PIP ‘for’ anxiety. There has to be sustantial disability de facto ruling out ‘mild’ anxiety. No one has provided ANY evidence ‘millions’ of folk are getting it for this.

Govt reduces London’s affordable housing quotas. Developers to get subsidies if they include 20% affordable housing instead of current 35% target. Yielding to developers won't solve homelessness and poverty crisis. Let councils build affordable homes. https://t.co/edTnXPuo0b

Everyone needs to grasp that legacy welfare benefits, Carer's Allowance, Universal Credit and PIP are woefully inadequate. They are NOT enough to survive or live on with modern costs - especially if disabled, because of the extra costs that can incur.

Anyone can become disabled. Anyone can lose their job Anyone can become homeless Anyone can go hungry. These are not moral failings. They can happen in an instant. Most people are far closer to living in poverty than they realize. We must fight for one another

Reeves considers adding 1p to basic rate or raising higher or additional tax rates. There must be no tax rise for the bottom 50%. Must tax dividends & capital gains at same rate as wages, restrict tax relief on pension contributions to basic rate only. https://t.co/Mx57gOVWgG

@InclusionLondon There is a no cost option available for the government, just deliver the @BorisJohnson promise to raise #accessibilty standards in new homes, that won’t fix all problems but according to @LSEnews it will save about £300 million per year.

@InclusionLondon @asleepyzebra Yes every new home should be wheelchair accessible & an accessible downstairs toilet/shower room as minimum this would encourage social mobility within the disable sector. Government has the power, but by attacking sector with funding cuts at every opportunity won't hold breath

It's a scandal that Disabled and older people now have to fundraise to ensure they can use the bathroom, bedroom or get out of the house. The government can change this: make sure everyone who needs adaptations can get them and raise minimum accessibility standards for new homes.
