I was approached last summer by several former University of Oregon women track athletes alleging they felt victimized by the program's data-driven approach to weight and body fat percentage. After a deep dive, this is what I found:

Six former UO athletes say they felt devalued as individuals and at risk for eating disorders because of the program’s data-driven approach to their weight and body fat percentages.

Your relationship with food, #reproductivehealth, #bonehealth, and performance are so important and should be prioritized over the way you look. This means you must fuel your body with energy to meet the needs of your daily endeavors. Learn more about fueling in our bio!

It’s #TriadTuesday!! Today’s blog discusses an important topic regarding conversations between athletes and coaches surrounding weight/body image. We MUST be educated in these potentially sensitive areas in order to protect the mental and physical health of athletes. #linkinbio

Question for men: have you ever been asked "do you work outside of the home?" I know it's a well meaning question, acknowledging that women who stay home are still working hard, but I wonder if men are ever asked this.

Hmmm...so many questions... && Why does reading articles make me feel dumber rather than smarter?? There's so much I ( and the collective "we") don't know about physiology. Where to even begin?

HIIT induces fat loss and decreases androgenicity in women with obesity. However, its side effects such as endotoxemia and hyperinsulinemia are ameliorated by caffeine supplementation. https://t.co/psBcxySdQJ

I regularly try to find silver linings of this whole pandemic (not that I would have wished this suffering on anyone). Today, I'm grateful for telehealth coming into prominence. A 5-min phone call to check in and get a prescription refill saves SO much time, energy, & stress!

The daily “dinner table conversations” about COVID by my well-meaning, non-scientist relatives leave me feeling annoyed, but I can never put a finger on why I’m so irritated by it. This is why. How can we fix the way science is portrayed and understood by non-scientists? 🤷🏼‍♀️

I still see young female athletes in my clinic who think it's normal to lose their period during heavy bouts of training. Fired up, I made this infographic to educate coaches, parents, and athletes misconceptions on hormonal contraception & bone health. Feel free to share 🦴💪

Fully advocate for a core multidisciplinary team of physicians, nutritionists, psychologists to work with athletes to prevent energy deficiency. Don’t forget that the #FemaleAthleteTriad is more than an amenorrhea algorithm and is a key component of #RED-S 👍🏻 @TheAthleteTriad
