Too many teachers—and teacher educators—still teach to the myth of “learning styles.”
The idea that people are either “left-brained” or “right-brained” is a prevalent #neuromyth. Actually, every complex cognitive function is a result of the engagement of a network of multiple brain regions. @neuromelina explains: https://t.co/HxMEEE5SSC

Terrific report on impressive work making change in teacher preparation. Love especially making meaning through practice and justice-oriented work.

DeansforImpact is best professional org I have ever been involved in. Got to work with Nancy at Purdue, along with other great deans, making positive change in teacher prep focused on equity.
Impact Academy is a yearlong fellowship for leaders of educator-preparation programs. One of the best parts of the program is forming relationships with other deans, @PurdueNancyMM explains. #teacherprep #ImpactAcademy #edleaders

Tutoring is the most effective way to get kids caught up.
Dozens of leaders in educator preparation sent a letter to Congress expressing support for the #PATHStoTutor Act. Future teachers can play a key role in the country’s educational recovery from the pandemic. https://t.co/zJQSV3Wwz8

East TN History Center does a terrific job depicting our disgraceful history of the Jim Crow era. They include some wonderful stories of Black artists and heros as well.

This is critically important work. The intersection of learning science and justice/equity is not found in all teacher prep programs. It’s challenging and inspiring both.
This week, Cohort II of the LbSD is redesigning teacher-candidate coursework using learning science through a lens of justice and equity, drawing upon @GholdyM’s HILL Model. Each team is exploring a sequence of instructional activities to better scaffold and align coursework.

Ahh, yes. Because there is no “normal,” right?
@ellenmcintyreut I will defend the Oxford comma forever. But social workers almost never use normality or normalcy, just as we don’t use deviancy. 🤣🤣 You will have to explain that difference to me, but I have your back.

I am thrilled and hopeful about this investment in TNs children. Let’s work together to support literacy development in our state.
It’s time to change the literacy policies and supports that help only one in three Tennessee 3rd graders become proficient in reading and writing. The investments announced today are a critical step forward for students in addressing our literacy crisis. #tnedu

When our students succeed our entire state prospers, and we know that reading on grade level is foundational to the success of every student, both in and out of the classroom. https://t.co/MFwiebbrgi
