I hope after the Hur fiasco, even Merrick Garland's ardent defenders can see that the dude has got to go. His commitment to being "apolitical" has led to some desperately political decisions.

Nice article, Elie. There’s some relevant background info folks should know that further explains his behavior (for example, that Garland’s lifelong mentor and best friend was Jared and Ivanka’s “ethics lawyer”):

Great article. You have to be a pitbull to go after Trump and his big mouth, and Merrick Garland lacks the ferocity. It has taken strong black women (Fani Willis, Letitia James, Judge Tanya Chutkan) to pick up some of the slack, although the criminal cases have stalled.

The equivalent of no decision is a decision. Garland has not been what was needed after an attempted coup by the former President. That was the dry run, they won't miss next time. The key is not to give them a next time and Garland let the big fish slide.

Defending Garland is a lucrative cottage industry. It's why they couldn't let it go despite ample evidence that he was not doing his job. Some made a name for themselves this way. Same with some NeverTrumpers who pretended DeSantis would be harder to beat than Trump. Trump = $$$

Ellie, Garland has never been apolitical. That is a story he weaves to explain his actions to protect corrupt people. Just as he has said many times “no one is above the law”, while ensuring that no politician will be seriously pursued.
