“Fear of reprisal and inappropriate government data sharing, such as the immigration status of household members not receiving benefits, often prevents people from enrolling in food assistance despite need,” EFF’s @HTsuka told @mnspokesman.

EFF intervened in a lawsuit last year to force government contractor Pen-Link to disclose the prices and descriptions of surveillance products that it sold to a local California Sheriff's office.

“There’s this veneer of respect for privacy that is painted over all of this data aggregation and consolidation,” EFF’s @_blip_ told @TexasObserver.
