My latest piece
@thenation
is about Oakland, the A’s, West Sacramento, the disgraceful owner of the team and a Vegas citizen’s movement that could upend his best laid plans.

I will remake the plea I made months ago: that someone hire Dave Zirin to be a MLB GM. It would be one of the greatest intuitive hires ever, and pardon the expression, he would knock it out of the park.

What I find odd is that losing a pro sports team is what we tried to avoid 10 years ago, telling Seattle, Anaheim, etc. hands off.
Now there's gloating over taking another city's team? Not good Sacramento

(1/2)Just read part of this piece up to the point where you wrote "it staggers me how much Manfred apparently hates baseball" at that point I can't imagine a person who has written 11 books and thinks he knows something about sports and baseball could say such a thing.

How about writing about meaningful economic reform in baseball. When will the playing field be leveled for small market teams. We need a salary cap like the NFL. Baseball is in decline and will continue to die in smaller markets without reform.

Fisher’s “best laid” plans is an oxymoron. He’s making it up as he goes along, pitting various interests and parties against each other to gauge what is best for him, personally, not what’s best for his team or its life long fans. Despicable.

Las Vegas may become uninhabitable.There's so many teams&oths cramping themselves into such a small space. It was already tight. Now it's tight &expensive. Like Atlantic City,longtime residents may be forced out.The homeless population is lg&needs help.Ppl will lose it all 2bet☹️

Thank you

for such a well-worded story. This IS a fight between the ultra wealthy destroying everything that is good in this world for their own greed.
