As someone who was laid off in AAA, like many of the people affected by these studio shutdowns do not have any type of residual income to survive on while executives are eating good.

Indies/AA studios want to make great games, but making a game alone doesn't guarantee that a company can thrive/let alone survive. Reinventing revenue streams for small businesses (indies/AA) and partnerships with gamers/other small biz is how I think this can change.

Okay #gaming. This is one of several reasons why I'm not a fan of acquisitions. I think we really need to look at the root of the problem which is "why" companies get acquired in the 1st place. It boils down to a strong business infrastructure for indies/AA studios to thrive.

Consistency can be hard especially when the list of things to do becomes overwhelming. If you take a loss, you can always try again even if its just 1 step forward instead of 10. Prevail.

I really think building a brand is the best way to go for indies & new founders. Rolling the dice on media/influencers building content around your game doesn't guarantee long-term exposure for your game studio. Just have to play the long game.

Its great having the humility to learn from people of all walks of life whether they are 12-25 years younger than you or 50-70 years older than you. There's always something you can learn from anyone. Sometimes you need to be a kid and sometimes you need to be a senior.

Going #indiedev is like playing a low mid tier in #Melee, you battle against top tier characters until eventually your fans see you as the S tier player. It forces you to learn the game and make the most of what you do have. I main Mario lol.
