This is sad news. John was my dissertation supervisor when I studied archaeology at Sheffield Uni. I've nothing but fond memories of some brilliantly supportive supervision sessions.
Really sorry to hear about death of John C. Barrett. As an archaeologist @UofGlasgow he was an inspirational teacher when I was an undergrad student & the smartest of thinkers. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be an academic. It was a privilege to have known him. @UofGArchaeo
