To all the incredibly brave servicemen and women who fought to allow us to be free today
To those who are alive on the 75th anniversary of
#VEDay75
To those who gave their lives in WW2
To those who have died since
We will remember you with undying gratitude

My father in law was part of the liberating forces & I'm very proud of his efforts.
My father was still fighting in the far east losing friends & didn't celebrate cessation of hostilities till August. Lest we forget.

My father was 19 & a rifleman in the 60th. He missed VJ day-he was in a forest in Yorkshire training for jungle combat in Japan.
They heard about it, came out of forest & fired mortars into the bay at Morecambe - much to the surprise of residents who'd celebrated 3 days earlier!
