Covid vaccination- from the front line. My group of practices was initially told we would get our first delivery on 28th december. Then 4th jan. Then 11th jan. Now we are ‘6th wave’ and it will be 13th, 14th or 15th jan. We are raring to go, but have no vaccines. WHY?

I did an extra surgery today doing catch-up smear tests. SEVEN no-shows. Would have been nine but after a phone call two came in. It’s not just bad manners, it’s wasting scarce (weekend!) NHS capacity. There's something systemically wrong where there are no consequences for this

We gave over 400 doses of #covidvacccine yesterday - 6 from each vial- and not a single dose wasted. Called up people on the reserve list ( next priority group) living nearby to use last doses from vials. This stuff is way too precious to throw away.

There are simply not enough GP's to see everyone who wants to be seen, especially now, with long hospital waiting lists. So a system of a phone call first from a Dr is more safe and fair than a race to be first on the phone to the receptionist at 9am.
