When a patient comes into the office and starts off by saying, "You're not going to like this" or "You're going to be mad at me," or "I've been bad," my response is: "Hold up! I’m so glad you’re here. 👋 You made it! We can talk and work on anything." 🤝

That’s great care! I was shadowing a physician and they shamed a patient for abusing drugs. I felt awful for the patient and I felt awkward witnessing it. Humanity goes a long way!

I have a history of substance abuse, self harm. My policy has always been of complete honesty. Only once was this well recieved, most occasions caused me much extra suffering. I can't expect help if I'm not honest but also know punitive, dehumanizing treatment will likely follow.

That’s good ur like that dr. Some drs think patients r neurotic and want pills. Some do worry about their health a lot, and some do need meds; but a dr has no right to come in a room ready to cut the patient down. God bless you Merry Christmas ✝️❤️🎄
