Over the years, African women have become indispensable in peace & security architecture, hence contributing to Agenda2063. As we start the new phase of UNSCR1325, we are determined to face the challenges & maximize the opportunities that will create a prosperous Africa.

The 6th High Level Forum on Women, Peace & Security is underway in Tunis, in Tunisia, where we are also marking 25 years of UNSCR 1325. The Resolution was a breakthrough in enhancing the role of women in conflict prevention, resolution & conflict transformation.

I am honored to serve in this role. I have always believed that our combined efforts in everything that we do will have a positive impact on someone's life. One life changed at a time shall lead us to a better world for us all.

Women & the youth have to be central in the continent's search for long-lasting peace. The conference was held under the theme "Africa in an evolving world"

The African peace & security architecture has had enough meetings & policy documents that have not been or taken long to be implemented, hence excercabate Africa's conflicts. It can no longer be business as usual given changing geopolitics.

Today in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, I have stressed the need for action rather than eloquence in tackling Africa's peace & security challenges. In my remarks closing the 3-day 11th TANA High level Forum on security in Africa, I emphasized turning meetings into impact.

Bad economic governance has brought untold misery to small scale business people across the country. Speaking at a whistle stop campaign meeting at Mpamba, Nkhata Bay @DrJoyceBanda pledged to implement sound economic policies that will stimulate national economic recovery.

The northern region campaign tour took @DrJoyceBanda to Rumphi. Economic stabilization through combined short term & bold decisions for economic recovery topped agenda of the meeting. People's Party believes in responsible economic governance to put the country back on track.

People's Party Presidential candidate @DrJoyceBanda is engaging with people of Rumphi, further bringing the trickle-up economic policies to the people. Stabilizing the economy, in the short term remains PP's top agenda. Rural communities are key to the objective.

Malawian are in dire need of decisive leadership to deal with the economic malaise. As such, I will not promise to throw money around, but I am committed to implementing policies that shall benefit the country in both short & long term.
