BREAKING: University leader reckons it's a good idea to focus on staff. The fact this is even news reveals much about the poor state of leadership and management in UK #HE more generally. @ass_deans #AcademicTwitter @ucu
Higher education staff have a “tough” job and universities should do more to help them ensure that their roles remain “tenable”, @UniofOxford’s new v-c Irene Tracey has said, as she pledged to make staffing issues a priority of her tenure. https://t.co/ydUBBwuMfF

I find that people find it hard to put a name to this when it's a brown person perpetuating violence against ethnic minorities. Let's be clear- it's racism. And brown people can be racist too. And she's been put deliberately in this role to enact racist policies (as Patel was).

The new Microsoft report on hybrid working is worth a read. It finds a big mismatch between workers, mangers and objective assessments of productivity while hybrid working. One nugget: the older you are, the less you want to go into the office https://t.co/1mRexhQ6QA

Retweeting this invitation to my book launch. Amongst other themes, as financial/professional/political elites remain dominated by the privately-educated/privileged, we will discuss how this relates to 'merit.' (Spoiler alert: not always that much) #socialmobility #inequality
Dear Colleagues, join us for this @QMUL_CRED and @QMUL_HSS event to celebrate the launch of @drlouiseashley's book that looks at class (in)equalities in the City of London.

Sad to see my employer using such anti-union tactics. @QMUL do better.
A UK university has warned it may have to suspend recruitment on to courses affected by a marking boycott in what the University and College Union called a “vindictive” threat intended to “break” the industrial action. @TWilliamsTHE reports https://t.co/zJ3mHgVIS6
