Every Christmas Eve, children in the Netherlands light a candle and place it on the grave of a Canadian soldier in cemeteries in Holten and Groesbeek. It’s a tribute to those who gave their lives for freedom. Never forget.

Every Christmas Eve local school children come to Holten and Groesbeek Canadian Military Cemeteries in the Netherlands to light a candle in honour of each soldier laid to rest. The act is both humbling and beautiful and serves as reminder to be grateful for the peace we enjoy.

I am surprised Prince Albert Road along Lake Banook was not closed to motor vehicle traffic during the North American Indigenous Games. Lots of young athletes and visiting spectators present. If you can, plan an alternate route.
