I think the interviewer for Michelle Obama tonight in Halifax, Nova Scotia was a display on “how not to interview”. 🤦🏽‍♂️ Here is some of the questions that were asked: ⁃How did it feel to be the main breadwinner and be forgotten about? ⁃Can you bring Oprah?

⁃ When you were in the White House you focused on gardening… - When you wake up in the morning what’s your first thought? - “You’ve written lots of books!” - Michelle “I wrote three… “ - What was in the Tiffany box from the trumps?

I can think of plenty amazing Black women in the ANS community that would have done a much better job. This is a prime example when a corporate entity such as Credit Union should lead from behind. Your CEO doesn’t need to be the face of the event or the host. Embarrassing

@DericoSymonds We had that discussion on the drive home. Michelle gave some really thoughtful answers, but there was a missed opportunity to have an African Nova Scotian moderator who could have taken the conversation to another level.

@ChadGALucas Absolutely! The interviewer just didn’t seem to understand the gravity of who she had in front of her. Such a missed opportunity is right man.

@DericoSymonds It was the exact same experience when Obama was here as well and our community excepted it then and we haven’t learned anything going forward. I’m not mad with anyone when the response needs to be action through change and not complaining afterwards when it’s all said and done .

@DericoSymonds Michelle Obama was excellent but the moderator was horrible. Very poor questions . She also moderated the conversation with Barack a few yrs ago and everyone afterwards was discussing how poor the questions were. Going fwd these events need another moderator!

@DericoSymonds The whole thing was sexist and banal: we heard about silverware, her womb, gardening, food…I bet no one asked Barack about the table arrangements at the White House. I would be mad if I had actually paid for my ticket.

@DericoSymonds Every question I’m reading makes me cringe more, that IS embarrassing as a Nova Scotian. I’m sorry I missed seeing her regardless, she’s an incredible woman.
