Just a layman with no vested interest shining a light on the alarming levels of dereliction and vacancy in the historic town of Drogheda.

@FredPLogue @Orla_Hegarty What I don’t understand is why the focus on JR’s rather than root causes of supply constraints like NPF or supply credit policies (both government)? If the NPF was lifted to 100k homes and the credit supply lifted. JR’s are small scale compared to the bigger picture, no?

We waste so much unnecessarily As a result so many suffer #DerelictIreland
On the edges of town, I watched this property slide further & further into dereliction every year I'm passing by @MayoCoCo What a waste of a home. #DerelictIreland #Castlebar #mayo

Former Odlums on Kennedy Quay, Cork City, is so beautiful its worth sharing over & over Long-term decaying & derelict but there are plans (note of caution: there are always plans) I'd love to see it owned by the state & transformed into community, creative space #DerelictIreland

Finally the Corner House is being cleaned up. It has taken years of haranguing to get @louthcoco to get the owner to finally do something to tidy up what was one of Drogheda's biggest eyesores. Still work to be done on the site, but progress. #DerelictIreland

It's so-so frustrating to see how dysfunctional Ireland has become when this could be resolved if there was the real political will to make a change for the common good rather than to serve vested interests.😡 In my visualisation, red blocks represent some of the Derelict and

Someone will probably try to blame a Judicial Review Rob. @FredPLogue @frank_oconnor @judesherry @BobbyMc2014
Only in Ireland!😡 In the midst of a housing crisis—with 16,766 people, including 5,274 children, relying on emergency accommodation—10 almost-completed houses in the small County Cork village of Carrignavar have lain idle for more than 15 years. #HousingCrisis #DerelictIreland

As ever. The big announcement is heavy in fanfare and fancy words. As ever. The devil is in the detail, or lack of detail.
We Irish are an abysmal lot Politicians are too able to say & do nothing. This won't last as people are being discarded on the dung heap of our own humanity. Quality chat costs nothing, lack of chat is diminishing the quality of life. @FIEIRELAND @VillageMagIRE

100% agree with Fred's point here. It's a bit tiresome listening to billionaires pontificating from their gilded towers. Perhaps if they contributed a bit more to Irish society by paying taxes here we'd pay more heed.
Maybe this is how the Collisons should be dealing with the housing crisis, like the Guinness family of the day, putting their money into building the highest quality of housing possible, instead of spending their money on creepy conservative think tanks and lobbying

What they have done to Bishop Lucey Park in Cork is criminal. We have seen many similar mistakes in Drogheda over the years where green spaces were covered with concrete. @louthcoco please take note when deciding what's to become of the Abbey Centre.
RIP Bishop Lucey Park Only green space in city centre is no longer a green space Seriously how did this cost €7million? Its depressing & says Cork says f*ck biodiversity & climate Ironically the one redeeming feature is that the railings & gates are gone to make it thoroughfare

A case of 'who you know' by the looks of things. 🙄
There is a family living next door to this eyesore for decades in Cork City while local authorities turn a blind eye, despite a dereliction law being in place since 1990, for 35 years So what happened to duty, integrity, transparency & accountability #DerelictIreland

It's rather strange that biggest study of dereliction in Ireland was undertaken by me & @judesherry, self-funded, because we had to challenge this waste & vandalism Yet we have so many paid professionals working in space for decades who some how ignore scale of #DerelictIreland
You can read our full free report here Nearly 5 years since its release, its still the biggest study of dereliction in Ireland #DerelictIreland

We welcome the decision, albeit belatedly, by @meathcoco to add the Bettystown Court Complex to their Derelict Sites Register. It has been an absolute eyesore for a decade now. @eastmeath #DerelictIreland

Month on month these figures rise. 14 years of guff. 14 years of failure. 14 years of lining developers pockets.
Today’s figures show there were 16,614 people living in homeless emergency accommodation. Shockingly, 5,238 of them are children. These record numbers are a shameful indictment of a government that continues to deprioritise homelessness https://t.co/uFo8DIY3w6
