I’m not saying it’s impossible to write a better Halo story than 343. However, the narrative abilities of the community overall have left me wanting.

Personally, I feel like any attempt at making a “true” Halo 3 sequel would crash and burn. How are you going to rope in folks mad that the fight is being “unfinished” and do you dare even try to do something new lest you “disrespect” Halo’s legacy? Good luck.

@DecepticonCobra I don’t mind certain concepts and ideas 343 has brought to the Halo franchise. It’s the execution of those ideas that I take issue with. As an example, I fully believe Jul ‘Mdama’s death could’ve been better served during the Battle of Sunaion. Potentially at Arbiter’s hand.

@VibesTheArtist I mean, I’d be in agreement, though I don’t know if I’d necessarily want Jul killed off. But that’s the thing, I think coming up with different outcomes for things that missed the mark os way better than what the fanbase usually does: toss something aside altogether

@DecepticonCobra 343 have good story ideas but lack execution and direction. H4 was really good starting point for a new era of Halo, its just unfortunate that they then threw that away. H5 should have focused on Chief struggiling with the loss of Cortana and questioning the 'machine v human'.

@DecepticonCobra 343i's whole writing MO has always been to retcon events from previous games. So yeah, you're right, it's not writing. Cortana is dead -> Nvm she's evil now -> Nvm she really dead now, offscreen.

@DecepticonCobra The universe itself does need some retcons of a few sorts and some un-retcons. You can’t just remove halo 5 and spartan ops, even if they’re some of the worst writing I’ve ever seen. The community needs to show it can write around it if anyone wants to be taken seriously.
