I just can’t imagine 343 would legitimately think their customization system for Infinite would be well liked. So many weird restrictions with coatings and armor (not for bots though somehow) and jacked up with ridiculous pricing. It’s all a joke. Has to be.
Yeah, we’ve moved onto a free to play model, but some of these things don’t even make a lick of sense. How is it Destiny 2 can have a similar color system with shaders yet any shader can be used on any armor piece, weapon, Sparrow, and ship whereas Infinite are tied to kits?
@DecepticonCobra
I feel like it’s Microsoft, like no one is stupid enough to think people will like it, but it makes a lot of money so they told them to do it
@moon_dweller5
I still place this on 343 in large part. I mean, I doubt a Microsoft exec told 343 to restrict armor coatings to certain kits rather than have them apply to any armor. 343 said their goal wasn’t to take options away and yet…
@sacrediconpod
But, like, there are better ways to make this profitable. $10 bought you the classic helmet pack back in 5. Now $20 buys you one armor bundle. Armor coatings are restricted to kits whereas any shaded you buy in a game like Destiny can go on anything you customize.
@DecepticonCobra
Almost like they are choosing how to customize for us. They gonna put a napkin under our chin and spoon feed us next? “Here comes the airplane” 😂
@DecepticonCobra
It's most likely just due to this being their first time doing this system in a F2P model.
They did a decent job with the 0 FOMO BP, but the progression is just poorly designed imo.
At least it's being fixed.
@DecepticonCobra
I really want to give 343 the benefit of the doubt and believe that the monetization/battle pass models were hard requirements from Microsoft. No way MP team leads drew up this system and thought "this is good."
@DecepticonCobra
At the end of the day, this customization system wasn’t designed to allow for the best player experience. It was designed from the ground up to make money. No amount of “adjustments” to the system will change that. It was never meant to give players freedom.
@DecepticonCobra
The biggest issue is that coatings aren’t cross compatible with armor cores. The really cool Razer coating I have only works on Mark 7 and so I don’t care about using my Mark 5 right now. Coatings need to be cross compatible.
@DecepticonCobra
I absolutely do not understand the logic of letting players pick from a bunch of base/secondary colors for 15 years as part of the game, and then TAKING AWAY MOST BASIC COLOR OPTIONS? They boast about making "your" spartan and restrict it like hell.
@DecepticonCobra
The monetization, while yes is super bungus, the thing thing bothers me the most is the restrictions. I should be able to use armor pieces from Kits individually and coats should be able to be applied individually as well. 🤷♂️
@DecepticonCobra
As someone told me, it's likely 343 wasn't the people that had that idea.
They can't have right?
Who would make a predatory restricted system and think.
"yeah this'll make people happy"
