@xamdamnila @MattWalshBlog It means there is a manifest imbalance. That's a legal term. The representation of a protected group (e.g., males and females) within a job group isn't similar to the larger demographics in the area. For example, if my shipping department has 90% males and 10% females, there is a…

Even aside from the fact that Affirmative Action is explicitly racist, it’s also disastrous on its own terms. These policies have made every institution less effective, less efficient, less competent. You cannot point to a single institution that has been measurably improved by…

@MattWalshBlog Matt: there is nothing wrong with affirmative action, which is "actively targeting underrepresented groups." It helps to correct a manifest imbalance. But note that if one uses AA in the workplace, both workers must be equally qualified. That's the clincher for the Supreme Court.…

@Dash_023 @MattWalshBlog What “underrepresented” even means? I could be white and come from a broken home ,or have 2 severe ill parents. I would be more disatvantaged that any other color.

@Dash_023 @xamdamnila @MattWalshBlog Well, racism should be at an instructional level and that's what affirmative action is. Racism at the institution

@Dash_023 @xamdamnila @MattWalshBlog What if I am a white man who identifies as a black woman. Should they be forced to hire me? I know that sounds ridiculous but current events were ridiculous a few years ago. Where does it stop? Just make it merit based. It's fair for everyone.

@Dash_023 @xamdamnila @MattWalshBlog And what if they targeted woman but missed out on a man who would have been a more qualified for a position? It's quite simple, the best person no matter race or sex should get the job or in this case college acceptance. It's not like the people missing out can't go to school

@Dash_023 @MattWalshBlog “Actively target” - so skill will not be the first criteria, but it will be the “actively targeted” criteria which is sex in your example. This is discrimination literally. “Prejudicial treatment of different categories of people ESPECIALLY on the grounds of

@Dash_023 @xamdamnila @MattWalshBlog How many categories are you going to use? Only race and sex (I can no longer use the word gender and be sure everyone knows what that is)? What about finances or family education history? What about orphan status? Can I find a protected status if I'm fat? Or unattractive?

@Dash_023 @xamdamnila @MattWalshBlog "Underrepresented" does not translate to "discriminated against". That's the fallacy.

@Dash_023 @xamdamnila @MattWalshBlog “Manifest imbalance” is pejorative because it implies that a “balance” is somehow superior, fairer or more desirable. Those are not forgone conclusions.
