The Senate votes 60-40 to advance a bipartisan deal to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. Eight Democrats broke with their party to back the deal, which fully funds SNAP through September but does not extend Affordable Care Act subsidies.

A “deal” that leaves millions facing higher health costs in exchange for empty promises is a betrayal. Americans are counting on Democrats to stand up for them, not give in. The Senate should reject it, and I will vote NO if it reaches the House.
And this does absolutely zero on Obamacare. The most Democrats get is a Senate vote. After 40 days.

Excited that Lina Kahn will be a leader on Mayor-elect Mamdani’s transition team. Monopolies and monopolistic practices are huge contributor of the un-affordability of NYC—from rent to grocery prices to job opportunities to pay inequity. Something I and many know all too well.

The factional grifters will hate this, but the Mamdani-Spanberger-Sherrill axis actually suggests the outlines of a broad, emerging Dem coalition organized around both anti-Trump *and* affordability politics, not a party bitterly divided against itself.
These big wins will embolden Dems to take on Trump's lawbreaking and show there's a price for GOP enabling of him. Folks hate to hear this, but normal patterns are alive and well: Liberalism isn't dead, Rs likely to lose 2026, and Trump is very unpopular, not a magical exception.
