If getting under the luxury tax is one of your main objectives, I think it’s time for Wyc and co to consider selling the team
Either invest or don’t. But giving away good players for nothing cannot become a yearly thing if this team wants to compete
Invest or sell
"Boston has two priorities: Add a third star to go with Jayson Tatum/Jaylen Brown, without giving up either one, to move into the top tier of the East. Barring No. 1, get under the luxury tax." Per

Well avoiding the tax could actually be an investment. Avoiding that repeaters tax could mean they are signaling they will be a luxury tax team for the foreseeable future.
@DanLifshatz
You only avoid the luxury tax if you can get another star. It’s no sense of paying the repeaters tax when you don’t have a championship caliber roster
@DanLifshatz
“Barring no.1, get under the luxury tax”
So if we can get a 3rd star, they’re willing to pay lol
I wouldn’t wanna pay luxury tax for this team as is either
@DanLifshatz
I think the desire to get under the luxury tax is to reset it knowing that in the next couple years with the core young players they have now they’ll be way over it for years to come.
@DanLifshatz
This is exactly the thing that will force Jayson & Jaylen to leave. They won’t forget when the owners didn’t believe in them when it comes to next contract or trade request.
