Most of you knew that Susan Hurley had been battling ovarian cancer for some time now. Our family is very saddened to report that she passed away. She is so missed already by me, our sons, Ryan and Max, and by our entire family. May our beloved Susan rest in peace.

I was the keynote speaker at this year’s New England 65+ Running Club luncheon. I was surprised by member Jan Holmquist, who presented me with not one, but three awards – their Hall of Fame, Race Director of the Year and the Joseph Shea Memorial Award for Service. Wow! Very kind!

I was invited to participate in a 2nd year 5K race called the House Rabbit Network 5000. The race was held in Boxboro, MA on Saturday. The House Rabbit Network (HRN) is a U.S. based nonprofit organization devoted to the welfare of domestic rabbits.

Believe it or not, I’ve never run the Chicago Marathon -- until last week! It was my 173rd marathon. Wow, what an amazing race. The Chicago team does an magnificent job...kudos to Carey, Mike and their entire CEM team. Very impressive.

The DMSE Sports team has setting up for this weekend’s 60th running of the Head of the Charles Regatta. It is the largest 3-day regatta on the planet! Over 12,000 rowers and scullers. Just a little bit different from putting on our usual 5K or 10K road races!

This weekend was a “feel good weekend”. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer along the Esplanade / Charles River and the Boston Marathon Jimmy Found Walk along the Boston Marathon course. Between the two, there were about 10,000 walkers who collectively raised over $10 mil!

Amazing two days of Run Medford events this past weekend – kid’s races on Friday night at Hormel Stadium followed by a series of races on Saturday morning. All went well and already looking forward to next year. Thanks to all those who participated or helped out along the way.

Today, file this under "how time flies" as today marks the 47th anniversary of my cross-country run for the Jimmy Fund. I was averaging 45-50 miles a day for 80 straight days as a young 23-year-old boy. That moment will always remain as the highlight of my athletic career.

Just a note of thanks to all of you who so kindly wished me Happy Birthday last week. I was out on the road all day doing my 71-mile birthday run/bike. 1st time in a while I have done it on my actual birthday! I ran a full 26.2 marathon followed by a 44.8-mile bike ride.

It seems like after every race we always remark that “this was our best one ever.” I guess if it is true, it’s true! Such was the case with the ASICS Falmouth Road Race that DMSE managed for the 15th yr. It was awesome, especially celebrating 50 yrs of the wheelchair division.

Lots of fun attending the Gronk Playground opening yesterday. Road on the duck boat with Gronk, his brother and father, Meb K., my son Max and his mother Susan Hurley who was mainly the one responsible for the entire playground being built.

I’d put this one up there in the top ten of DMSE Sports managed events over the past 10 years...it was amazing in all areas – Kid’s Fun Run, Walk/Run/Roll, High School Mile and Saturday’s 10K. All went off almost flawlessly with amazing weather to top it all off.

RUN TO HOME BASE - FENWAY PARK The DMSE team helped manage the 16th Annual Run to Home Base this weekend at Fenway Park. About 3,000 participants completed the 9K and 5K events. Thanks to all the DMSE folks who worked the race and made us all look pretty good!

DMSE and the BAA collaborated on the 2025 Boston 10K this past weekend. Although the weather seemed ominous on Sat, we all certainly “dodged a bullet” and were pleased with a “not so bad” day after all. Looking forward to working with the BAA on the Boston Half up next in Nov.

Fun to participate in the Bryan Lyons TriFury Triathlon this morning in Wilmington. It was very touching to be part of the “bench dedication” in memory of Bryan. A few of us gave some remarks about our personal connection with Bryan over the years.
