Year 12 Biology students attended Science Live! where they were treated some fascinating lectures. Topics covered genetics, including how we ALL have royal blood and the science behind laughter. The students had a great day. Another great reason to study Biology at DGSB.

Congratulations to former pupil Archie Henderson who has recently signed for Blackburn Rovers FC. Archie was an integral part of the U15 and U16 DGSB teams who won the Kent Cup in 2024 and 2025. We wish Archie the very best as he begins the next part of his footballing journey.

Our students enjoyed another fabulous lunchtime performance as part of our "Live@Lunch" series. This week our 6th Form A Level music students took to the stage, performing a range of pieces from musical theatre, classical genres and Folk-Pop. Well done!

On a ranger led tour at Wildwood, Year 8 students learnt about the lifestyle, habitat, diet and conservation of European Brown Bears, European Bison, Konik Ponies and Wild Boar. They also sifted leaf litter for invertebrates and collected and classified specimens using pooters.

Congratulations to all our students who took part in the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge this year. We are proud to announce that our pupils achieved an impressive 17 Bronze, 13 Silver, and 11 Gold certificates. Well done to all involved for their work and mathematical enthusiasm!

2/2 7 students achieved Bronze, and 16 students were Highly Commended for their results. A great achievement and experience for all that took part. Well done 10TR1 and 10TR2!

1/2 Our Yr10 Triple Scientists took part in a National Biology Competition last week run by the British Biology Olympiad. 7 students achieved a Silver Medal scoring 86% or more, with only 10% of students nationally falling into this bracket.

Yr12 students from the DGSB Top Achievers Programme visited St Hugh's College at the University of Oxford. They toured the college, heard from undergraduate students and took part in workshops. St Hugh's College will visit DGSB soon to run a follow up session with our students.

DGSB hosted it's own in school Maths Competition this week. Years 7 to 10 took part in a range of activities, winning points for their house. Lots of fun and healthy competition was had, and after a hard fought week, the winners for this year were Castle house. Well done!

2/2 They were very lucky to handle a wide variety of specimens including the skulls of many different species. Some students are also hoping to volunteer in the museum soon, which only opens to the public once or twice a year.

1/2 - On Thursday some of our fabulous A Level Biology students got the opportunity to visit the Museum of Life Sciences, Kings College, London. They took part in a workshop where they discovered the fascinating science behind the evolution of humans.

Two Year 10 teams recently competed in the "Advanced Maths Support Programme" Year 10 Maths competition at Herne Bay High School. They all performed well, displaying excellent problem solving and team-working skills throughout - both essential for future study in STEM subjects.
