I’ll just keep repeating it until someone in the cult acknowledges it: Zaslav publicly announced the movie was a success last Sunday. The debate was over then, they’re keeping the plans no matter what.
When WB wanted to get rid of The Rock, the trades said that with a $195M production budget and $100M marketing Black Adam needed $600M global to break even. Now the trades are saying that with a $225M production budget and $125M marketing (lie. It's more) Superman needs $500M.

I’m surprised that these guys haven’t acknowledged the unfair advantage this movie has in the form of a CEO publicly in its corner defending it. Zaslav has already announced he’ll be happy with whatever it makes by declaring it a success before the opening weekend was over.
Event movies make big money nowadays, and Superman wasn't an event movie overseas. Only domestic. That's the all story. Are WB happy with 600M range global after they cleaned the slate for Gunn? Big question.

I’ve long been a proponent of fair treatment of adaptations and I’ve defended the Snyderverse from bad faith takes at length. It’s also an adaption that doesn’t speak to me and doesn’t move me. The one is those things for me.
definitely kicking the hornets' nest here, but now that we've got such a wonderful direct comparison, I'm absolutely gobsmacked that *this* was what Superman looked, sounded, and acted like onscreen as recently as 2016. truly miserable stuff!
