The first lifeboat was established in Courtmacsherry in 1825. The station's current lifeboat is the Val Adnams a Shannon class lifeboat.

#WaterSafetyIreland have today awarded “#JustinTime” rescue awards to Michael and Amy Walsh from Butlerstown who alerted the Rescue Authorities on the evening of 25th Feb 2021, when they noticed a garment near the slipway at Dunworley Beach in West Cork, while out walking.

What a day in @Courtmacsherry today. Thanks a million to a record participation of 485 walkers plus 95 helpers making it a total of 580 persons involved today. It was some commitment by so many.
