"People in encampments are in a daily struggle for survival, and public perceptions about their safety are being weaponized to justify the criminalization of poverty and homelessness." Thank you, @HousingLogement.

Advocates told the official that three provincial laws encourage municipalities ‘to back away from a human rights-based response to encampments.’

Magical skies for the ribbon cutting of the new pedestrian bridge (name coming soon) that connects Emma and Earl streets. Glad this is in place before we close the Speedvale bridge for repairs so folks without cars can maintain access. Great job from @cityofguelph staff.

We need to take a stand against the use of the notwithstanding clause which allows Premiers to push through anti-human rights legislation that equates to anti-trans violence.
Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance. 🏳️⚧️The Government of Canada takes a stand against anti-trans violence. Let us reflect, stand in solidarity, and commit to building a safer, more inclusive world for all. #TDOR

“The new Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency (OPCA) will aim to improve the province’s conservation authority system" to help get shovels in the ground faster on homes and other local infrastructure projects” Ah yes, building homes. Famously, the mandate of Conservation.

The province sets the fines for speeding tickets, mandates that cameras can only be in community safety zones and lists them at 3x the speed. Taking away the ability for us to make school zones safer is ridiculous.
To the mayors asking the government to continue to allow cash grab speed cameras in Ontario, I have been absolutely clear: The answer is no.
