@Corsair_Cowboy The Essex class coming online is like a STC from 40k being dropped into WW2.

@Corsair_Cowboy US ship building was on crack during the war, still mind boggling we built a whole ship in less than a week

@Morality3444 We had a level of “total war” that Hitler could only dream of, our industry was nothing short of mythical.

@Corsair_Cowboy To be fair, plenty of their planners said they'd have a year to get their objectives complete before US industry steamrolled them. They just failed to listen to these people.

@Corsair_Cowboy By late 42 the US was down to one operational carrier in the pacific, and the fleet had taken a lot of losses during the Guadalcanal campaign but they we’re replenished thanks to all the new ship that came out in 43

@Corsair_Cowboy The US spent almost 20 years planning for this, conducting yearly wargames using the entire fleet at sea with scenarios of Hawaii, the Panama Canal, and/or the Caribbean captured by Japan allied with various European powers incl. the UK. Japan poked that with a stick.

@Corsair_Cowboy technically more like a year. 5mo later was the battle of Midway where we had only 3 carriers and not much else in terms of operational capitol ships in the Pacific.
